Cottages in Deal
Deal is located a few miles north of Dover on the South Coast, beautifully positioned for exploring this fascinating part of England.
Historic, accessible and with a lovely promenade and pretty pebble beach, Deal has it all; a bustling town with character and fascinating architecture. Overlooking the town is a complete and rather stunning Tudor castle which was built as an artillery fortress, a great indicator of Deal’s heritage and position as a south coast port.
Deal offers something for everyone. The best view of the Promenade is from the end of the Pier where you can look back and see the array of historic pale washed houses, fronted by a pebble beach. There is even a small fishing fleet to complete the picture.
The town is a ‘hotchpotch’ of quaint mews and pretty streets with the high street itself actually winning the Daily Telegraph High Street of the Year award. There are many independent traders and interesting and varied shops with cafes, pubs and restaurants dotted in-between; the high street is totally free of traffic so a lovely location to wander along and pause for something to eat.
You are never far from Deal’s long and significant history as the presence of the castle will testify. The Castle and the maritime museum are both wonderful places to visit and will take you back in time to experience Deals’ naval heritage, sitting as it does amidst the former Cinque ports. Of military, trading and even smuggling importance, Deals’ colourful and vibrant past still resonates throughout the town today.
We have a host of pretty cottages tucked away in the quiet mews of Deal with one or two on the Promenade offering spectacular views. These historic and charming properties will leave you spoilt for choice but all of them will ensure you experience a real flavour of the town during your visit.
