Coastal Cottage Holidays
Everyone loves a beach, so why not rent a holiday home right next to one this year?
From wide sandy shorelines and rugged coasts to secluded coves and traditional seaside resorts, there are so many beaches to choose from on this wonderful island of ours. Beaches are inviting all the year round and can be the location for a whole range of activities from rockpooling and horse riding to sand yachting and a simple game of French cricket. Admire the sea views, take a lungful of that fresh salty air – that’s what a holiday feels like.
The Telegraph recently released their list of top 20 beaches in the UK, and many of our seaside destinations feature in the top 20. Cornwall boasts the top two, Watergate Bay in Newquay and Porthcurno near Land’s End, but notable mentions must also go to Whitsand Bay and Mawgan Porth Beach.
Devon and Wales appear twice in the list thanks to Saunton Sands, Blackpool Sands, Marloes Sands and Rhossili Beach respectively. While several of our destinations also appear in the coveted list including, Dorset, Norfolk, Suffolk, Kent, Sussex, Yorkshire and Lancashire. It is fair to say, you will never be far from one of Britain’s top beaches in one of our seaside cottages.
But seaside destinations don’t simply have to offer stunning golden sands to be recognised as top coastal destinations. Ilfracombe in Devon is not renowned for its stunning beach, but for its Victorian Charm and famous Damien Hurst sculpture Verity, while Whitby is iconic for its harbour and historic abbey. Extending 190 metres into the sea, Southwold beach is home to the famous pier first constructed in 1900 and now home shops, restaurants, quirky amusements and host to tens of thousands of visitors annually.
