Ten Large Holiday Homes in Picturesque Locations

If you’re part of a big family or group, it can often be something of a compromise when you’re looking for a cottage. Large holiday homes are rarer than their smaller counterparts, and often in less than ideal locations. However, there are plenty that buck this trend and below are ten large holiday homes in the most beautiful surrounds.

The name ‘Pixies Holt’ may not conjure up images of large holiday homes, but this cottage in the Cornish town of Looe is actually a spacious detached house that can sleep up to eight people. It is in a quiet area called Shutta, and its elevated position gives it amazing views over the river.

Church Beck House near Scarborough in Yorkshire is actually part of a late Victorian mansion, a fact you’ll soon realise when you see the grand exterior, sweeping lawns, and the huge rooms inside (one of which contains a full sized snooker table). This large holiday home is in the Dales National Park and you’ll love the views you get from this three storey property.

This large holiday home is in the historical Suffolk village of Dunwich. The Coach House, as its name suggests, was once two stables, and the original floor bricks are still present in this four-bedroom holiday cottage. With some lovely sea views on one side and views over the marshes from the other, you’ll soon see why this is such a sought after location.

Coedpoeth near Newtown, Wales, is a detached house that sleeps eight people. With mature gardens surrounding the property and the fine mid-Wales countryside to enjoy, this large holiday home is the place to stay for anyone who loves great scenery.

Lovely views across Ormesby Broad await holidaymakers at Heron Lodge in Norfolk. It’s a delightful area of the county, great for walking and birdwatching, and this newly built lodge will comfortably accommodate up to eight people.

Flat 1 The Pinnacles is a two floor flat in the centre of Swanage on the Dorset Coast, and its elevated position gives you great views out over the picturesque bay. The town is part of the Purbeck Heritage Coast area, a beautiful place just waiting to be explored.

Nestled in the heart of Teesdale is Romaldkirk, a quintessential small Yorkshire village. Here you – and up to thirteen others – can stay in Ashwood Lodge, a recently renovated barn that has some very special views over the beautiful Dales countryside.

Ashtree Farm is one of those very special large holiday homes that is as interesting as the destination itself. It’s a striking ancient farmhouse in Wissett, Suffolk, with thatched roof and traditional Suffolk pink walls. Inside are a host of traditional features, timbered roof beams, large fireplaces, and wood panelled walls all add to the character. Once you leave the house you can explore the picturesque Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB.

Large holiday homes in Devon are often in picturesque locations, and Countisbury Lodge is no exception. Set above the town of Lynmouth, this cottage that sleeps ten has some breathtaking views over this AONB. Wooded hills and deep valleys lie before you, and beyond them Lynmouth Bay sparkles in the distance.

Where do you go if you’ve a really big group to accommodate? Well, how about Lower Stand Farm and Granary in the heart of the Kent countryside? These lovely properties can be booked together so up to sixteen people can stay on the same site. From both properties you have stunning views over the gardens and local countryside, with the High Weald AONB stretching away from you in all directions.
