Dorset is a county in the southwest of England and the county town is Dorchester. The county borders Devon. It is a county of outstanding natural beauty and has some magnificent scenery. There are rolling hills with pretty little villages, and a coastline with fishing villages and sandy beaches that has recently received World Heritage status. It is an area rich in fossils from the Jurassic period. There are many ancient iron Age hill-forts, stone circles and earth barrows. Many traces of the Romans can be found around the town of Dorchester.
