Access Statement

This twelve year old cottage is one of five that has been converted from a single storey farm building. The car park is all tarmac. To get to the cottage we have a path three foot wide; the path has one step of about four inches, and then there is another step through UPVC front door of the cottage being about ten inches high. All the rooms of the cottage are on one level, although the cottage is not suitable for wheelchairs due to the small size of the rooms.

Description

Sugar Loaf Cottage is one of five cosy, south-facing cottages on an arable and fruit farm, 2.5 miles east of the bustling market town of Abergavenny. This is an excellent base for walking and touring, just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park, and with an 18 hole golf course half a mile away.

The cottages are fronted by a large lawn with picnic benches and there is a shared games room with a pool table, washing machine and dryer (operated by a £1 slot meter). Some of the electricity on the farm is generated by a small wind turbine. This cottage has a double bedroom, a Shower room with WC, a kitchen/diner with dining table and four chairs, and a comfortably furnished lounge with TV, DVD player and CD player. Heating by new electric radiators. Views of the mountains from the rear of the cottage.

The area is renowned for fine eating and has many interesting places and attractions to visit such as the Norman Castle at Abergavenny which also houses a museum, Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway, Blaenavon Ironworks, Big Pit National Coal Museum, abbeys, the beautifully scenic Usk Valley and the River Wye. Fruit picking can be arranged on a neighbouring farm.

Please note: Adults only (no children or infants)

Electricity and storage heating included.

Bed linen and towels provided.

No smoking, please.

Reviews

Great stay here good location, very clean, hosts we're very friendly, really quiet, everything was very good. couldn't give anything negative at all and would really recommend this property

Mrs H,

What an absolute gem, as not only close to all amenities, it was far enough away to enjoy peace and tranquility in abundance. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable, and always on hand should you need anything. This place was great value for money especially for July, and even though the weather could have been better, there was nowhere else I would rather have gone. Will definitely book again in the future.

Mrs N,

Past Customer,

A lovley spot in peaceful surroundings with very friendly welcoming hosts. It was ideally positioned for exploring all the nearby castles... We explored 7 new ones and a few previously visited. Thank goodness for National Trust & CHDW. We recommend a trip to Big Pit - taking the smaller beautiful route ober the Top! Tina & Collin

Past Customer,

Our stay was wonderful and as of yet when booking through Original Cottages we’ve never been disappointed (apart from the weather and that’s nobody’s fault) Comfortable, warm and stunning views what more could you want?
